The Aboriginal History Research Unit (AHRU) manages access to Western Australian State archives and some privately owned records that are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Aboriginal Affairs (DAA). Access to these records is provided for personal and family history, native title and general research purposes.
Under past legislation, such as the Aborigines Act 1905 and the Native Welfare Act 1963, employers, including the State Government, held money and property belonging to Aboriginal people from 1905 to 1972 in a complex network of trust accounts administered by the then Department of Native Welfare.
Kimberley Stolen Generation Aboriginal Corporation (KSGAC): We are a local Human Rights Organisation, community owned and controlled, serving members of the Stolen Generation of the Kimberley and their families. Many Aboriginal people of this region have been affected by Government policies which separated their families. Our Link-up service organises reunions and other activities for Stolen Generation people across the Kimberley.
